Consultation for
Intended Parents

Building a family can take many unique forms. One option, third-party reproduction, can be easier with a guide by your side to answer questions, discuss options, and help you honor the best choice for your family in this process. We work with families as a consultant, educator, and teammate throughout the journey.

You might want a consultation for third-party reproduction if:

  • You will use donated egg, sperm, embryo for family building.

  • You will work with a surrogate during the growth of your family.

  • You are considering the preservation of your own egg or sperm.

The goal of the consultation is to help you, the intended parent(s), feel more prepared for you and your offspring’s future. In our meeting, we will discuss:

  • The process of third-party reproduction and review your choices

  • Your thoughts and feelings about donor conception.

  • How to honor your family’s values in selecting a donor and/or surrogate.

  • When and how to discuss your family building with friends and family.

  • When and how to disclose your child’s genetic origins to them.

  • Relationship building with your surrogate.

Why did my doctor say I needed to have a third-party reproduction consultation?

The American Society of Reproductive Medicine recommends that intended parent(s) to receive psychological education on donor conception and/or surrogacy. Your doctor recommended this consultation in order to prepare your for the psycho-social aspects of third party reproduction and family building.
